February 2014 - Issue 1
2014 will certainly be an eventful year for the TRANSBIO project, sign of a SUDOE dynamic well initiated by the former INTERBIO project.
Among key events during the beginning of this year, you will indeed have the opportunity to attend to a workshop on the new tools for the creation of companies in Valencia, training courses on Metabolomics in Toulouse (February). In April (9th to 11th), with the 2nd Emergence Forum in Barcelona, the dynamic should go on with the challenge of fostering public-private collaborations and making emerge a Transnational Biocluster of the European South-West area in Life Sciences and Health.
Until then, the whole team joins me in presenting its best wishes for this new challenging and, hopefully, successful year for TRANSBIO SUDOE !

Positive outlook for the first two workshops on "Rupture technologies"
"Ion Mobility Spectrometry (IMS)" and "Metabolomics and molecular interactions for biology and health" were the key topics of the first two workshops on "Rupture technologies" respectively held in Bordeaux and Lisboa in the end of 2013. Both events were a great success with about forty attendees each time! Indeed, participants evaluated highly the overall quality of both workshops and particularly the renowned speakers presentations which covered a wide range of issues related to the latest developments in IMS and NMR and X-Ray technologies dedicated to metabolomics.

Galicia as one of new TRANSBIO SUDOE partner
The Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC) and Campus Vida has joined the TRANSBIO SUDOE project. Campus Vida, a Life Science Campus led by the USC, is a collaborative ecosystem where researchers, entrepreneurs, companies and institutions work together to build a competitive Biocluster in the bio sanitary and biotechnological sectors in Galicia. It has been qualified as an International Campus of Excellence by the Spanish Ministries of Education and Science and Innovation in 2009.
The USC, which is one of most prestigious universities in Spain and Europe, particularly focuses its research in the fields of life sciences and agrofood.
Two additional regional members of Campus Vida joined the European project: the Health Research Institute of Santiago de Compostela (IDIS) and Galician Biotechnology Companies Cluster (BIOGA).
