The Young Scientist Symposium – May, Bordeaux On May 19-20, Bordeaux organized the 7th IECB Young Scientist Symposium. The symposium attracted more than 110 participants including close to 20 from Spain and Portugal to attend this event dedicated to young researchers' works. Attendees could have heard the presentations of 12 selected speakers at the interface between biology, chemistry and physics and 22 posters were displayed throughout these two days...
Emergence Forum – April, Barcelona More than 140 participants from 8 regions of Southern Europe, including companies, research centers, TTOs and Tech Platforms attended this Forum held in Barcelona on April 10-11. Balearic Islands and Montpellier joined the TRANSBIO SUDOE project
The University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), the cluster BIOIB (Biotecnológico y Biomédico de las Islas Baleares) and Montpellier 2 University have joined the TRANSBIO SUDOE project:
• Created in 1978 the UIB is a public institution of higher education with the higher standards of academic quality and social responsibility.
• BIOIB, that started as an initiative of the Balearic Islands government and "Balearic Association of biotechnology companies", is now constituted by companies in which technological innovation plays a fundamental role in their competitive strategy. BOIB's main objective is to increase and strengthen the Balearic Island's economy competitiveness, boosting the Biotechnology and Biomedicine sectors that are high level and strategical for the economy of the Balearic Islands.
• Montpellier 2 University is the Science and Technology University in Languedoc-Roussillon where approx. 17,000 students are teached basic and applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. It hosts the BioCampus Montpellier, which is the body managing the 51 facilities of the Bio-Medical community in Montpellier.
